Singapore's PC penetration of 60% was higher than Australia's 56%, the United State's 51%, Hong Kong's 50%, and Ireland's 32%. One-quarter of surveyed households had more than one PC. This translates into approximately 807,500 PCs in 616,222 homes with computers, according to the IDA. Among households with a computer, 12% said that they would buy one in the next three months the IDA found.

Internet use The IDA estimates that there are currently 1.3 million Internet users in Singapore. This amount represents one-third of the total population. The Internet was mainly used for e-mail, chat, finding information, and downloading software.
